Boys-Love Light Novel Label Platinum Bunko Ceases Publication
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
The boys-love light novel label "Platinum Bunko" will cease publication after 16 years. The company's current works will continue to be available electronically. Printemps Shuppan's BL manga magazine Canna will continue.
Various boys-love authors have reacted to the news with sadness and sobering words about the state of the industry. Author Izumi Katsura tweeted: "I didn't have any ties to Platinum Bunko, but I'm saddened that a label that continued for so many years has come to an end. This isn't just limited to Platinum Bunko - many labels are ceasing publication because print books aren't getting reprints. I recommend that you preserve the books that you want. The BL novel industry has survived natural disasters and the fall of Lehman Brothers, but I feel like things are only going to get tougher from here. The consumption tax is rising as well..."
Nao Yukino posted links to two of her books published by Platinum Bunko and noted that neither of those books were aimed at general audiences.

両方とも万人向けではないという自覚あり😅 pic.twitter.com/Iw2vIvdr9k
Hotaru Natsuno posted images of the three books she published with Platinum Bunko and wrote: "I'm very indebted to this label, as they were helping me right until they closed shop. When I heard the news, I remember having this really said thought that I'd never have my dream of getting published with them again one day granted."

プラチナ文庫様の休刊、とても悲しいです。
